FAQ

Chiropractic care is a health care profession based on interactions of the spine and nervous system, as well as the surrounding muscles. We work to locate offending spinal structures and reduce their impact to the nervous system.

A chiropractic adjustment is the art of using a specific force in a precise direction, applied to a joint that is fixated, “locked up”, or not moving properly. The purpose of this natural and safe procedure is to correct structural alignment and eliminate interference in the nervous system. For the patient, this means improved spinal function, reduction in pain, and an overall improvement in health and wellness.

Chiropractic care is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of most back and neck problems. Spinal adjustments are extremely safe when performed by a licensed chiropractor.

When you first come to our office you will be welcomed by our very friendly staff. After filling out some paperwork, you will meet one of our chiropractors who will conduct a thorough examination. Typically yes! However, depending on your condition and level of pain, the intensity of treatment may vary.

A patient’s history or exam may suggest further diagnostic testing such as an x-ray study, an MRI, or CT scan. Occasionally the patient will need to be referred to another facility for further work-up. We may also refer the patient to another provider should the patient’s condition not be a chiropractic case which will most often be determined at the initial patient visit.

Yes! There are many different techniques in chiropractic other than manipulation that can help you with different conditions you may have. The most important thing is to remember to always tell the doctor how you feel and ask any questions you may have.

Chiropractic is a non-invasive therapy. You will not get injections.

Chiropractic care is dependent upon your health insurance coverage. Some insurance providers require a referral from your primary care provider in order to receive chiropractic treatment. The reasons people seek chiropractic treatment are many: some use chiropractic treatment for back adjustments, or aligning vertebrae for preventative care. Others need help managing serious and chronic pain conditions such as scoliosis or whiplash.

Our goal is to help you improve your health and keep it that way. To achieve this we believe in regular preventative maintenance program that might range from 3 visits a week, to one visit a week, or once every couple of months.

At MTPHC we often treat common back and neck pain in a few sessions, sometimes with once-a-week visits. We also treat people who have been seriously injured in car accidents or slip-and-fall type of accidents. These types of injuries may require a longer treatment path.

It is important to remember that Chiropractic is not like a magic pain pill that will mask the pain. We treat the problem that causes the pain to correct it and help bring it back to normal. And the same way it probably took days or months and even years for this problem to build up, it will also take time to correct it.
The doctor will help put you on an on-going plan that is right for you.

The treatment you may need depends on your individual condition, underlying factors that are stressing your body and length of symptoms. Your previous injuries may also affect treatment time, along with any proper care you received and rehabilitation for those injuries when they occurred.

With hours at a computer and frequently too little exercise, modern life often contributes to common back and neck pain, and you may find that a regular adjustment every two to four weeks can prevent problems.
